Rising Leaders

We really mean it!  Our Rising Leader Camp can help you learn and practice positive leadership skills that you can use throughout your life.  Most campers report this camp has been truly life changing.  If you already have leadership skills, we can help you become even better and if you would describe yourself as incredibly shy, we can help you to overcome fears and Be Brave!

Rising Leaders is a 2 year commitment where we serve to help provide an outstanding camping experience for our UMC Tween Camp (kids going into 4th, 5th and 6th grade) for 2 consecutive summers. You will learn Leadership Skills, Camp Counselor skills and how to live in Christian Community with others.   Rising Leaders is a 5 night commitment and those going into 9th grade through 12th grade are encouraged to apply.  By applying to be a Rising Leader, you are signing on to Work, Play and Learn!

Anyone can learn to be an incredible leader.

FLUMC counselors help carry out the curriculum and activities developed by the Dean and Camping Coordinators. Counselors facilitate family groups, organize group games, lead worship, stay in a cabin with campers and interact with the campers throughout the entirety of the week. Counselors will have to obtain Ministry Safe or previous Safe Sanctuary training, and it is expected that a counselor can commit to the full length of the camp, including staff training days which take place the day before campers arrive at the camp.

Inclusion Policy

Flathead Lake United Methodist Church celebrates that all persons are created in God’s image and are of sacred worth. We celebrate God’s gift of diversity and value the wholeness made possible in community equally shared and shepherded by all. We welcome and affirm people of every gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation, who are also of every age, race, ethnicity, physical, and mental ability or disability, level of education, and family structure, and of every economic, immigration, marital, and social status, and so much more. We acknowledge that we live in a world of profound social, economic, and political inequities. As followers of Jesus, we commit ourselves to the pursuit of justice and pledge to stand in solidarity with all who are marginalized and oppressed.
